About Us

Founded in 1974, the Ohio Racquetball Association (ORA) is the non-profit governing body for the sport of racquetball in the State of Ohio. The ORA is under exclusive charter from the USA Racquetball (USAR), a member of the United States Olympic Committee and the National Governing Body for the sport of racquetball. The ORA is committed to providing programs for competitive players of all ages.
The primary purpose of the ORA is to foster and promote the development of the sport of racquetball at all levels throughout the State of Ohio. The association offers programs for youngsters age 5 through seniors age 80 and above. Special programs include Junior Team Ohio, the ORA Collegiate Racquetball Series (now called the MERC conference), the Cal Coates/ORA Collegiate Scholarship Award, an annual State Championship event (singles and doubles), an Annual ORA Awards Banquet and a sanctioned tournament calendar.
The ORA is run by an elected volunteer Board of Directors serving two-year terms. Funding for development programs comes from annual membership dues, advertising income, sponsorship, fundraising activities, and private donations. "In state memberships stand at 450 and out of state memberships at 150 for a total of 600 competitive players."
All records of the association, including financials, are available for review by any ORA member in good standing by simply calling the ORA office at (614) 572-7189 with a formal request.
